Best practices for using AI assistance in translation, with Alex Queen and Richard Sadowsky

Our second talk focused on how translators and translation companies can incorporate AI into their work, looking at issues of reliability and more, from both the freelance and agency perspective.

Alex Queen is the founder and CEO of Queen & Co., a digital communications agency bridging language, technology, and culture across Japan and the UK. He leads ventures in multilingual services, digital technology, hospitality, and community spaces—including HonyakuOS,™︎ a language services platform, and 14-54, a culinary hub and community space in Aomori Prefecture.

Richard Sadowsky has been a freelance translator since Heisei 1 (1989). He is based on Awaji Island and is an integral part of SWET and JAT, helping organize past IJETs (2000 in Kyoto, 2006 in Kobe, 2013 in Hawaii) and serving as a mentor for JAT's eJuku program since 2011. Richard has presented a number of times at IJET and JAT ProJECTs on productivity tools and the use of AI in translation, including at the 2023 IJET on “How Translators Can Use AI Tools Now and What’s in Store?”
