Translator Tuesday November 2025
These are casual virtual meetups to talk about translation, mainly between Japanese and English. We share experiences, questions, readings, strategies, tools, travails, and trivia, with different conversations every time. New participants are most welcome! The hour-long sessions, moderated by Daniel Morales, start at 8:00 p.m. JST on the first Tuesday of the month. For brief reports of previous meetings, see here.
Coming up:
November 4—Professional organizations are at the heart of translation, whether they are companies seeking translation, publishers publishing translations, or membership associations supporting the profession. This November, we’ll discuss professional bodies that are useful to know and belong to as a translator (including SWET!). What organizations are best to be involved in? Are there any that translators should be more aware of?
December 2—We’ll do a year in review, and discuss our favorite translation projects of the year. Bring success stories that you can talk about, and share strategies, finessing, turns of phrase, and other successful solutions that you’re particularly proud of.
Please note that advance registration is required for each session. Click on the link below, then select the desired date from the pull-down menu. If you are interested but not sure you can make it, feel free to sign up and attend if you can. Participants are also free to arrive or depart while the session is in progress. We encourage you to register now.
