Translator Tuesday January 2026
These are casual virtual meetups to talk about translation, mainly between Japanese and English. We share experiences, questions, readings, strategies, tools, travails, and trivia, with different conversations every time. New participants are most welcome! The hour-long sessions, moderated by Daniel Morales, start at 8:00 p.m. JST on the first Tuesday of the month. For brief reports of previous meetings, see here.
January 6: A new year gives us the opportunity to reset and start fresh. When translating, what strategies do you use to look at your draft in a new light? Do you let it rest for a while before reviewing it? Get another set of eyes to look at your work? Read background research? Come ready to discuss your techniques.
February 3: In February we’ll have an open session. We hope all Japan-related translators, aspiring, experienced, veteran, retired, will feel free to drop in, even if just for a few minutes. We hope to see you!
Please note that advance registration is required for each session. Click on the link below, then select the desired date from the pull-down menu. If you are interested but not sure you can make it, feel free to sign up and attend if you can. Participants are also free to arrive or depart while the session is in progress. We encourage you to register now.
