Translator Tuesday December 2

These are casual virtual meetups to talk about translation, mainly between Japanese and English. We share experiences, questions, readings, strategies, tools, travails, and trivia, with different conversations every time. New participants are most welcome! The hour-long sessions, moderated by Daniel Morales, start at 8:00 p.m. JST on the first Tuesday of the month. For brief reports of previous meetings, see here

Coming up:

December 2—We’ll do a year in review, and discuss our favorite translation projects of the year. Bring success stories that you can talk about, and share strategies, finessing, turns of phrase, and other successful solutions that you’re particularly proud of.

January 6—A new year gives us the opportunity to start fresh. When translating, what strategies do you use to look at your text in a new light? Do you let it rest? Get another set of eyes on your work? Read background research? Come ready to discuss your techniques.
