SWET Kansai Translator Behind the Scenes: At the “Zen and Ghibli” Exhibit with Beth Cary

After participants view the exhibition at their own pace, at 5:00 p.m. veteran interpreter and translator Beth Cary will talk to us about it in a separate room, sharing stories from her work translating the soon-to-be-released book of the same title and wall signs for the exhibition. Discussion topics will include her approach to rendering conversations between Studio Ghibli producer Suzuki Toshio and three Zen priests for American and British readers, as well as other aspects of the translation process.
