About the Slideshow and Talk:
The slideshow and talk by Edward Levinson will feature a wide variety of his photography created in Japan over more than 30 years. Levinson’s writing has a strong visual aspect; his talk will cover how he combines writing with this photography and how photographs and writing play off each other in the creative process. He will also discuss the strong influence of Japanese culture on his work; his experiential, non-fiction first-person essays are often accented with haiku and poems.
Levinson will talk about the process of writing and publishing his book Whisper of the Land (Fine Line Press, 2014) and share short readings from this collection of essays based on 35 years of “living the good life” in Japan.
Photography has become an important skill for writers to have. Audience interaction will be encouraged and Levinson is also happy to offer photography tips concerning technique and equipment.
Signed copies of Levinson’s books will be on sale at special prices.
