October 11 - Proofreading: A SWET Professional Skills Workshop

This hands-on workshop is open to 20 participants. Reservations will be accepted until July 15. If there are fewer than 12 reservations as of July 15, the workshop will be canceled.

The workshop is designed for proofreaders, writers, editors, and translators at all levels. It will be conducted by EDS president Becky Davis, a Tokyo-based graphic designer, typographer, and erstwhile editor and proofreader.

Subjects covered include Japanese proofreading marks, how to mark proof so you get the corrections you want, how to handle gremlins, how much a proofreader can and should do, and what makes a good proofreader.

The workshop will be held in Tokyo, near Kamiyacho station. Maps and preparatory materials will be sent to participants.
