On short notice, Judy Wakabayashi has kindly agreed to give a presentation in Kansai on Sunday, August 3.

Judy’s research interests include the history of translation in Japan, translation theory, and the pedagogy of translation. At Kent State University, Dr. Wakabayashi currently teaches graduate courses in translation theory and Japanese-English translation. Dr. Wakabayashi is the translator of several non-fiction books and the author of various articles on translation. Her presentation, “The Fictional Figure of the Translator” was one of the highlights of IJET-14.

To get to Creo West by train

Take the Osaka JR loop line to Nishikujo. From Osaka JR this would mean getting a train heading towards Bentencho or Sakurajima (and USJ). The exit at Nishikujo is close to the front of trains coming from Osaka. If coming from Kobe, the Hanshin Nishi-Osaka line may be good alternative.

From Nishikujo Station, go down the stairs and out into the street. There is a ‘scramble-type’ crossing. Go diagonally across the road and down the side road between the clinic and the cafe. On the right there is a school and you will also be able to see a park further down the road. Across the park is the curved pink facade of Creo West. The Craft Room is on the second floor.

At summer walking speeds, it will probably take about four minutes to walk to Creo West from Nishikujo Station.
