February 26 - Writing and Illustrating for Children
This event is co-sponsored by the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
Speaker: YOSHIDA Yurika, Japan Foreign-Rights Centre
Along with a talk by a literary agent specializing in export of children’s book rights from Japan, this event will introduce the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), an international organization offering a variety of services to people who write, illustrate, or share a vital interest in children’s literature. The SCBWI (http://www.scbwi.org) acts as a network for the exchange of knowledge among writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators, booksellers and others involved with literature for young people. SCBWI maintains two regional chapters in Japan—in Okinawa and in Tokyo.
SCBWI Tokyo Regional Advisors writer Linda Gerber and illustrator John Shelley will provide an explanation of SCBWI.
