Modern software and the Internet have helped to streamline processes involved in the editorial workflow: editing manuscript files, checking consistency in manuscripts, communicating and collaborating with contributors, and proofreading manuscripts and galleys.

The latest versions of two tools commonly used in the production of written material - Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Professional - provide functions that can make editors’ lives significantly easier. In this workshop, which will focus on text editing for print production, Hugh Ashton will explain how to use these functions as part of a collaborative editorial process. Participants will be welcome to ask questions related to their particular area(s) of editing, and to learn more about the arcane mysteries of these often under-utilized programs.
