Phyllis Birnbaum, author of Glory in a Line: A Life of Foujita, The Artist Caught Between East and West (2006)

Phyllis Birnbaum, is the author of biographies including Modern Girls, Shining Stars, The Skies of Tokyo: Five Japanese Women,, and, most recently,  Glory in a Line: A Life of Foujita, The Artist Caught Between East and West.
There will be a brief presentation by our guest writer and the floor will be open for others to speak and ask questions.
Participants are invited to bring bento, sandwiches, drinks. Some beverages will be provided.

Book Sale
Visitors to the Writers’ Cafe are invited to recycle some of the titles on your bookshelves. Bring books to contribute to the supply (please try to choose titles you think will really sell; we don’t have much room for storage). Those who bring books will receive credit at the door toward purchase of books already there or purchased at future SWET book sales. Take this opportunity to buy your SWETshirts (all sizes available) and handy SWET totebags (white and black) The book sale and SWETshirt/bag sale are fund-raising events for SWET. Those who would like to contribute books to the book sale in advance of the 24th should contact SWET by April 19.

Place: Sophia University Campus, No. 7 Bldg., 12th Fl. No. 5 Meeting Room.
(No. 7 Building is just inside North Gate, which is on Shinjuku Ave.)
Enter Main Gate (Sei-mon), turn left at main campus crossroads and go to 12th floor of No. 7 building right next to the North gate.
Access: Yotsuya Station, JR railway; Marunouchi and Nanboku subway lines.
