Writer and columnist based in Sapporo Kathy Morikawa set up her own publishing company in late 2003 and is now the author of three self-published books. An opportunity to talk about the nitty-gritty, nuts-and-bolts details of individual self-publishing projects in Japan, the workshop will cover four main topics:
- (1) How to analyze the most viable path/self-publishing option for your manuscript;
- (2) book-production considerations (paper, fonts, cover, technical details (ISBN, bar code);
- (3) setting up a sole proprietorship (kojin jigyō) to sell your book;
- (4) distribution, sales and promotion.
4:30-5:00 Book Sale
Participants in the workshop and anyone else in the neighborhood are invited to recycle some of the titles on your bookshelves. Bring books to contribute to the supply (please try to choose titles you think will really sell; we don’t have much room for storage). Those who bring books will receive credit at the door toward purchase of books already there or purchased at future SWET book sales. Those who would like to contribute books to the book sale in advance of the 26th should contact SWET events by May 23.
Send inquiries about the event to SWET events.
