Dianne Highbridge, author of A Much Younger Man and In the Empire of Dreams (both Soho Press, New York), is an Australian who worked and studied in London before coming to Japan. She began writing in Tokyo in the 1980s, and recently completed her third novel, The Book Lover.

She has reviewed for the New York Times Book Review and written short stories and feature articles for newspapers and magazines in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Japan, as well as a books column for the Daily Yomiuri (2000-2002). Her successful Creative Writing classes at Temple University Japan led to a series of annual writing workshops (the next to be held in October 2007).

Highbridge will talk about writing fiction and the process of publishing: finding an agent, dealing with publishers, being reviewed, and following up through promotion and book tours, translations, and the sale of film rights.
