Drawing from a long career of writing, reviewing, and editing scholarly works, Kate Wildman Nakai, editor of Monumenta Nipponica and professor at Sophia University, will talk about some of the distinctive features of academic as opposed to commercial editing and publication. Points to be addressed will include the submission and review process, concerns particular to editing for an academic press or journal, issues involved in publishing in English on Japan, and the part editors, in-house and out, play in seeing a book or article through to publication.
