Christopher Belton is a writer who has lived in Japan since arriving from the UK in 1978. He has over 40 publications to his name, ranging from (English) techno-thrillers to English language teaching material in Japanese, and a large number of co-authored and translated works.

He will be speaking on the art and craft of writing in different languages, the thrills and spills associated with publishing in Japan with Japanese publishers, as well as dealing with overseas agents and publishers while being based in Japan.

With his wide knowledge of writing and translation, Belton’s experiences may serve as a source of inspiration to many SWET members, together with non-members who are interested in working in SWET’s core fields of writing, editing and translation.

The venue, Yokohama International School, is easily accessible from the Tokyo and Yokohama areas - the fast Minato-Mirai Line trains reach Motomachi-Chukagai station from Shibuya in well under an hour with no changes needed. The school is a five-minute walk up the hill from the Exit 6 of the station heading toward Americayama Park.
