We look forward to the pleasure of your company at the SWET 2005 Summer Party, to be held on Saturday, July 23, from 6:30 p.m. The party will be held at the phoViet restaurant in Ikebukuro, about 10 minutes’ walk from Ikebukuro station, and will cost JPY5,000 per person for an ample supply of food and drink, including consumption tax.

Vietnamese food is renowned for its delicacy of taste (few palate-incinerating dishes) and its suitability for hot weather.

The restaurant has a pleasant airy atmosphere overlooking Nishi-Ikebukuro Park.

- Shrimp and herb spring rolls (un-fried)
- Shrimp and pork with tapioca, steamed
- Green papaya saladRice cakes with green chili flavor
- Shrimp paste, steamed in sugar cane, in banana leaf with a spicy sauce
- Seafood in tomato sauce
- Beef with fresh herbs with a peanut-based sauce
- Pho (noodles in soup) with beef or chicken
- Dessert of the day
- Beer, wine, soft drinks, etc.

How to get there:

First:

- Train or subway to Ikebukuro station.

Either

- From the Metropolitan exit ( JR), down some steps to street level and walk along the road leading from the station at right angles to the train tracks. Leave the Metropolitan Hotel on your left, and continue past the post office and Tokyo Water Board on your left until you come to a major road intersection (Nishi-Ikebukuro 1)

or

- Head from other west exits of Ikebukuro station and follow signs for the Metropolitan Art Space. Walk until you hit a main road at right angles and turn left (south), leaving the big white square Art Space on your left, until you come to a intersection. You should be able to see the post office in the road to your left. The intersection is signed as Nishi-Ikebukuro 1.

Then

- Cross the main road and take the road opposite—leave a Takenaka building site (white fence) on your right and the park will appear on your left in about 20 meters.

- Leave the park on your left as you walk on. When you come (2 blocks) to an intersection with traffic lights, and a Malay restaurant (Malaychan) on your right, cross so that you are diagonally opposite Malaychan.

- Reach phoViet (fourth floor) through an elevator entrance on left of the street a few meters past the intersection.
