Technical Writing and Manual Production: Explaining the Unexplainable

Technical writer Hugh Ashton will lead this talk on producing manuals for Japanese-designed products aimed at the professional and consumer export markets. Manual production and technical writing often involve working against tight deadlines and space constraints, while still producing intelligible prose that may be the first popular explanation of a new technology. They often demand a wide variety of skills, some of which may not immediately seem to be connected with writing.

Other SWET members and visitors are encouraged to come along and share their experiences in the field of technical writing and manual production, to assist those already involved in the documentation business as well as those who may be considering making a move in that direction.
