Researching, writing, publishing, and promoting non-fiction books
Mark Schilling will give a presentation on researching, writing, publishing, and promoting non-fiction books. Schilling has published four books, the most recent being The Encyclopedia of Japanese Pop Culture, which occupied the number two slot on the Amazon.com pop culture encyclopedia best-seller list for more than a year following its release in May 1997. (Number one, for reasons known only to Amazon.com editors, was The Mayo Clinic Family Health Guide.) This fall Schilling will publish his fifth, a book on Japanese cinema in the 1990s, with Weatherhill of New York. Schilling promises to set aside plenty of time for questions and answers, for all those needing nuts-and-bolts advice on getting that manuscript in the drawer into print.
