SWET will hold a lecture, “On Translating and Being Translated.” The speaker, Fred Schodt, is a translator and interpreter and the author of several books on manga, including Dreamland Japan: Writings on Modern Manga, a collection of essays on the manga universe published by Stone Bridge Press. MC for the evening event is Mark Schilling, Tokyo-based writer, movie critic, and author of the Encyclopedia of Japanese Pop Culture recently published by Weatherhill.
