The workshop will emphasize the professional’s approach to translation. Participants will receive two stages of feedback on their translation of a short excerpt of their choice. Translation first drafts will be due between March 20 and April 10 (extensions okay). A two-hour workshop will be held in the afternoon on Sunday April 22 to examine second-draft translations and discuss tips on professionalism, translation techniques, and self-editing strategies for each individual’s project.

Translation text: Please choose a piece or excerpt of about 400 characters on a non-fiction, general topic. For example, newspaper editorials, biographical pieces, and culturally related articles are all acceptable. Please refrain from translating technical or scientific texts. Participants may also request an assigned text.
