The Northern California Translators Association (NCTA) (a chapter of the ATA) has announced that it is running a webinar, titled "Translation Techniques for Crafting Natural English from Japanese," which may be of interest to SWET members that translate Japanese into English, mentioning that there are very few webinars for this language combination.

The webinar focuses on strategies for making JPN-to-ENG translations vigorous and concise, including: Finding creative ways to break up sentences, unearthing the active voice, choosing punchy verbs with Anglo-Saxon roots, locating subjects in nearby text, deciding what to do with false or abstract subjects, identifying better subjects, and using certain techniques for translating certain workhorse verbs.

The event will be instructed by Michael Karpa, who is the author of a valuable article that SWET published a couple of years ago, which can be viewed here.

Note that registrants unable to attend the live event will have unlimited access to the recording for 90 days following the webinar.
