Robert Whiting: Anecdotes from Four Decades as a Writer

Robert Whiting, veteran author of "The Chrysanthemum and the Bat" (1977), "You Gotta Have Wa" (1989), "Tokyo Underworld" (1999), and "The Meaning of Ichiro" (2004), will be sitting down with SWET for an impromptu talk and discussion about his remarkable career in writing about Japan. Whiting will also share anecdotes about how he became a writer, along with various Japan-related commentary.

The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Those attending are invited to bring a bento or a snack to eat and drinks as desired, the better to enjoy the chance to socialize before the lecture begins at 7:00 p.m. (Please be prepared to take home your own trash.) Take advantage of this chance to meet other SWET members, pay dues, and look at some of the books that SWET has recently received for review.
