Book Break with Hugh Ashton
With special guests Andy Boerger and "Vinnie"; presented in association with SWET (swet.jp)
The Yokohama Country and Athletic Club (YC&AC) has announced that on March 22, 2014 it will host a Book Break with Hugh Ashton, author of Sherlock Ferret and The Missing Necklace, a children's book about "The World's Cutest Detective." The event is highlighted by the opportunity for kids to meet the inspiration behind the main character of the book, Vinnie, an "adorable ferret." Illustrator Andy Boerger will also be in attendance, as Hugh Ashton performs a reading, discussion, and signing session.
Copies of Sherlock Ferret and The Missing Necklace will be available for purchase (1,000 yen), and not only will Ashton and Boerger sign, but Hollywood star-style autographs from Vinnie himself will be available. More information on the book can be found here.
Adults are admitted free (lunch a la carte is available), while kids under 15 can enjoy a finger-food lunch with entry of 1,500 yen. Adults are encouraged to support those behind the book by purchasing a copy, which would make a great gift for a younger relative.
More details can be found on the YC&AC Facebook page. Sign up at Mollison's restaurant at the YC&AC or by e-mail at: events@ycac.or.jp.
