Valuable New Resources for Wordsmiths! Buried Treasure at the JTA Signage Project Website
Signage, websites, and other information in English about tourist sites around Japan is being prepared by professionals in a project sponsored by the Japan Tourism Agency. While this is welcome news for tourists, the exciting point for wordsmiths is that the style guide and other resources are now available online.

No June IJET—One Year Postponement!
IJET-31, the 31st International Japanese-English Translation Conference, originally set for June 5-7, 2020, will be rescheduled to 2021 to a date to be announced.
The IJET-32 Toronto Organizing Committee has also been asked to prepare to host IJET-32 in 2022 on a date also to be announced later.

Two SWET Members Win Japan-US Friendship Prize!
Congratulations to SWET members Janine Beichman (Tsukuba) and Matt Treyvaud (Chigasaki) on the awards for their recently published translations!
The Donald Keene Center of Japanese Culture announced winners selected by the jury for this year’s Japan-United States Friendship Commission Prize for the Translation of Japanese Literature and Lindsley and Masao Miyoshi Translation Prize on November 15, 2019.
